Legion of Mary Annual Trip to Knock will take place on
Sunday 27th September. The cost is £30 per person, making
the usual stops for breaks. Pick up points are at the following
Churches:- Newcastle – (back of the Church) 6.15am,
Castlewellan – 6.30am, Downpatrick – 6.45am, Crossgar –
7am and Saintfield – 7.15am. To book your place you can
place your money in an envelope along with your name and
phone number and drop it into the Parish offices in Saul or
Downpatrick (Patrician Youth Centre) or you can phone

You will have noticed that the new title “PARISH SUPPORT
OFFICER ” is being used in the bulletin information section
and in the job advertisements in this weeks parish
bulletin. This is simply the new term for parish secretary
being used across the diocese.
RCIA 2026 / 2027: Thinking about becoming Catholic or
want to deepen your understanding of the faith? The
Diocesan RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a
journey of faith, formation, and community for adults who
wish to explore the teachings of Jesus Christ and the
Catholic Church. It is open to anyone unbaptised, those
baptised in another Christian tradition, or Catholics wishing
to reconnect with their faith. The 2026 –2027 programme
begins on Wednesday 23 September and runs weekly from
6.30 to 8.00 pm at St Mar y’s Hall, Chapel Lane, Belfast.
Sessions include prayer, teaching, discussion, and time for
questions. Spouses, fiancés or friends are also very
welcome to attend alongside participants. All are welcome,
whether you are exploring faith for the first time or

Lectio Divina has resumed from Tuesday 8th September at
11 o’clock. We will be using the small room in the church
that is used on Sundays for children’s liturgy. Lectio Divina is
the practice of reading scripture, meditation and prayer.
New members are very welcome.
Priests on Retreat: beginning on the evening of Sunday 13 September, the priests of the diocese will be gathering together
with Bishop Alan in Drumantine for three days of prayer. The Bishop has given permissi on for all Masses to be cancelled on
those days. However, due to the kindness of Canon Murray, all our Masses in Downpatrick will continue as normal . Deacon
Jackie Breen has graciously undertaken to look after funerals. We are grateful to them both. Please pray for your priests as
