Our Lady of Knock Novena each Monday evening in Stella Maris, Strangford at 7.10pm .
The Sanctuary Lamp in St Patrick’s Church, Saul has been lit for private intentions. If you
would like it lit for your intentions please contact the Parish office. The cost is £5 per week.
Eucharistic Adoration
Down & Connor Diocese is renewing and developing its Diocesan Adoration Lay Committee in
order to increase the practice of Eucharistic Adoration in Parishes throughout the Diocese.
You are welcome to attend an information meeting on Friday 2nd October in St Patrick’s
Centre, Downpatrick at 8pm. Registration from 7.30pm. Please see the poster in the
Churches for further details.
The Medical Missionaries of Mary have been invited to visit us in Down and Connor this
year and will be with us here at Saul and Ballee on the weekend of 26th and
27th September 2026. They will speak of their work, mainly in Africa and South America, and
their mission to bring Christ’s healing love to those most in need. Our parish and our
diocese have supported MMM generously in the past, both in finance and in prayer, and
MMM wishes to express gratitude for that support and to emphasise that we here at home
are the body of mission, and those who are sent to far away places are the hands and the
feet. When they speak to us and share their story they serve as a connection between us and

is £30 per person, making the usual stops for breaks. Pick up points are at the following

Crossgar – 7am and Saintfield – 7.15am

IT COULD BE YOU!
I am deeply indebted to all the volunteers we have in our 2 Parishes. In fact, we could
not function without each of you.
One of the biggest fears that prevent people from volunteering is that they could still
be there in 15 years time!
I don’t want that for anyone which is why I am making this appeal.
We are always looking for new volunteers –
- For practical things such as cleaning our churches, helping with the flowers,
collectors and counters.
- For the roles of Eucharistic Minister or readers, especially from the younger
members of our congregations .
- For the various committees in the Parishes, I can assure you we try to keep the
meetings brief and not too often.
If you would be interested, I’d love to hear from you – even to explain what the
various roles entail. I am eager to revamp our Parish Pastoral Councils. To look at
what can be done to make our Parishes and our celebrations more vibrant and
meaningful.

Beginning Experience – Beginning Experience is a peer ministry to the bereaved, separated and
divorced, based within the Family Ministry of the Diocese of Down and Connor. We are offering a
support programme over three Saturdays from September through to November and would be
most grateful if you could include the following information in your Church Bulletin at your earliest
convenience.The loss of a partner through death, separation or divorce is devastating. Beginning
Experience is offering a programme of bereavement support in St Bride’s Hall, Derryvolgie Ave.,

Community Safety & Wellbeing Event organised by the Policing & Community Safety
Partnership in Down Leisure Centre, Downpatrick on Wednesday 16th September 2026 from 10am
to 12pm. This free event will bring together a wide range of local services to support health, safety,
and wellbeing in our community. Attendees can benefit from free advice and health checks, Scams
information session at 11:00am, information on local services and community safety. Free
refreshments and an opportunity to connect with others
Thinking about becoming Catholic or want to deepen your understanding of the faith?
The Diocesan RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a journey of faith, formation, and
community for adults who wish to explore the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. It
is open to those who are not baptised, those baptised in another Christian tradition, or Catholics
who wish to reconnect with their faith.
The 2025–2026 programme begins on Wednesday 1st October and runs weekly from 6.30–8.00 pm
at St Mary’s Hall, Chapel Lane, Belfast. Sessions include prayer, teaching, discussion, and time for
questions. Spouses, fiancés or friends are welcome to attend alongside participants.
All are welcome, whether you are exploring faith for the first time or returning after
some time away.
