Mass for the Sick and InÞrm
The annual ÔMass for the Sick and the InÞrmÕ will take place in Bright Community
Hall, Ballynoe, BT30 8AJ at 12noon on Saturday 12th September. Neighbouring
parishes are also very welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Parish Pastoral Council 1st September 2026
During the meeting we discussed the following: The newly merged
Parishes of Downpatrick and Bright Baptism Preparation Team is now providing
courses for parents requesting Baptism in our parish, plans are progressing to
provide Children's Liturgy at St Patrick's in Legamaddy (hopefully from October)
and to involve the Primary 4 Come Follow Me group from St Joseph's in the
Saturday Vigil Mass. Children's Liturgy will be provided by a number of catechists
on the Come Follow Me Programme all of whom have undergone the appropriate
level of safeguarding checks and training. We discussed how to most sensitively
implement a new Diocesan process for parishioners who wish to avail of the
Bereavement Ministry that recognises that not everyone will wish to do so.
The Pastoral Council plan to introduce 'Lectio Divina' as a way of
enhancing the prayerfulness of our meetings, Father Peter will lead us in the
reading, meditation, prayer and contemplation of the Gospel, based on resources
accessed from the Dominican Lectio Divina Centre in Newry.
Proposed dates were suggested for the Mass for the Bereaved and the
Inter-Church Carol Service (it is our turn to host this year) and are awaiting
conÞrmation. Two dates that have been agreed include next year's Cemetery
Sunday and ConÞrmation for children from both primary schools that will be held
at St Patrick's - these dates will be published in the bulletin in due course. We all
agreed that 'Ice Cream SundaysÕ had been a great success and these will be
scheduled for next summer.
The next meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council will take place on
Monday 5th October 2026.
