Weekly Reflection.
The grace of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not easy. There is no more difficult form of giving than forgiving. For some people,
forgiveness seems an impossible requirement, because of what they have suffered and the harm
that has been done to them. How do you forgive someone who has done something terrible to you
or to a member of your family? There are times in our lives when we are not able to forgive
someone, especially when the offending person shows no sign of remorse or of wanting to make
restitution for the harm done.
Jesus, in today's parable of the unforgiving servant, is suggesting that God's tender, limitless mercy
towards us is with a view to our own transformation. To really open our lives to God's limitless
mercy is to be transformed by God's love into God's likeness. We all have someone to forgive and
we all need to be forgiven by someone. Offering forgiveness to another will never come easy to us;
it sometimes comes very slowly. Today's Gospel suggests that the more we appreciate and open
ourselves up to the gift of God's limitless forgiveness of us, the freer we will be to pass on that
forgiveness to others.

The Season of Creation is the annual Christian celebration to pray and respond together to the
cry of Creation: the ecumenical family around the world unites to contemplate and care for our
common home. This year, we will unite around the theme “Living Water” , inspired by Ezekiel 47:9
- a powerful biblical vision of hope and ecological healing. Set amid exile and loss, the image of
living water flowing from God’s sanctuary reveals divine healing that renews land, water,
biodiversity, and human responsibility towards the whole creation. The Season of Creation continues

Coffee Morning , in aid of Kingscourt & Carrickmacross Cancer Care, in Magheracloone Community
centre (across from Drumgossatt NS Eircode: A81 HC99) on Thursday 17th September from 9am to
2pm. Hosted by Rosie Hand, June McEntee and Margaret Babington. All supporters will be entered

Depression & Anxiety Support Group – Corduff: A professionally facilitated 6-week support
group for depression and anxiety continues in Corduff. This group is suitable for adults experiencing
low mood, depression, or anxiety and will be facilitated by Susan Byrne, Psychotherapist (CBT).

Fr Noel Conlon Charitable Trust – Date for Your Diary. The Fr Noel Conlon Charitable Trust is
holding its annual walk in Carlingford on Saturday, 19th September 2026. Registration: 10:30am
Walk starts: 11:00am. Registration fee: €25. Join us for a beautiful scenic walk, starting at the
Marina, followed by a short walk to St Jude’s Shrine. Everyone is very welcome to come along and

Annual Padre Pio Annual Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine will take place on Sunday 20th
September 2026. A coach will travel from the Shirley Arms Hotel, Carrickmacross at 8am,
stopping at Corduff Cross, Shercock and Cootehill . €20 per person. For further information please

Céilí Dancing Classes resume in Corduff/ Raferagh community centre on Tuesday September
15th at 8pm. Promote our native culture in a fun and enjoyable way. No previous knowledge of
steps or movements required. Keep the brain active, gain exercise while meeting new friends. Come
along any Tuesday night.
Hope and Healing: After a sellout experience last year, Fr John Flanagan, Truagh Parish,
Monaghan, returns to the Íontas Theatre, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, Tuesday 3 November 2026,
8.00pm, with Celebrating Hope and Healing, a fusion of reflections and music. Written and delivered
by Fr. John, his heart felt reflections delve into the themes of hope, faith, forgiveness and inner
healing, offering the audience solace and inspiration. The accompanying music is composed and
arranged by Lauren Murphy, Truagh, Co. Monaghan. Book with Iontas Theatre at

THANK YOU – Carrickmacross Lions Club are very proud to have been organisers of the recent
fundraising event - Ramble at Lough Fea on Sunday 23rd August 2026. Thanks to the Shirley
family for opening their home & grounds for the day, in memory of Robert Henry, with all proceeds
to Carrick Cancer. Thanks to everyone who came along to the Ramble and donated generously, and
to everyone who supported this event and contributed in so many ways. The event raised €6,275.09
for Carrickmacross Cancer Society.
Upcoming Half Day Workshop on Responding to Self-Harm in Young People . This
Workshop is aimed at Frontline Staff who are working with those at risk of Self-Harm and is
scheduled for Tuesday 15th September from 9.30 am – 12.30 pm (light lunch provided) in

An Introduction to Regenerative Agriculture - 6 week course : Thursdays beginning 8th
October (6pm - 8pm). Taking place at Síolta Chroí, Aghacloghan, Carrickmacross. Síolta Chroí are
running a 6-week course to introduce the main principles of regenerative agriculture for farmers,
growers and food producers. Topics include soil health, direct selling, animal grazing and

Could You Help Share the True Spirit of Christmas? Each year, volunteers in parishes across
the north of Ireland set up a small stall after Masses to sell Trócaire’s Gifts of Change — meaningful
gifts that make a real difference to families living in poverty around the world. We provide everything
you need including training and support. All we ask is a little time and a big heart. Last Christmas, 50
parishes took part — and we’d love to grow that number even more this year! If you would like to
