CALENDAR FOR THE WEEK AHEAD
Sunday 13th The Christian community must be seen to be one of forgiveness and mercy. If the Lord is
compassion and love, slow to anger and rich in mercy, who are we to be otherwise? We need t o be conscious
of our own weaknesses and failures so that we may not judge others. We cannot pray the Lord’s Praye r with
unforgiving hearts.
Monday 14th The Exaltation of the Holy Cross . This feast celebrates the Cross both as the instrument of
Christ’s victory over sin in his passing to the Father’s glory and as the means of our salvation.
Tuesday 15th Our Lady of Sorrows. Mary stood by the Cross in solidarity with her Son in his passion,
uniting her sufferings with his and sharing in his offering to the Father.
Wednesday 16th St Cornelius and St Cyprian. Cornelius became Pope in 251 and died in exile as a martyr
in 253. Cyprian, bishop of Carthage, a very influential and revered figure in North Africa, died as a martyr in
258.
Thursday 17th St Robert Bellarmine (1542-1621), Jesuit, bishop, cardinal, and Doctor of the Church, who
was deeply involved in the theological controversies of his time. Patron of catechists.
Friday 18th First Anniversary Mass for Fr. Michael Keaveney at 10am.
Saturday 19th St Januarius , bishop, who was martyred with six companions in Naples in 305.
Sunday 20th 11.30am Mass will be celebrated in Ballybrack. Reader at this Mass will be Gerry McQuillan
Mass this week in St Pius X: Monday to Friday 10am. Saturday 6.30pm; Sunday 10am. Confessions in St.
Pius X Church : Saturday 5.45pm to 6.15pm. The Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited in
St. Pius X Church, Moville, at 7.30pm every day, from Sunday – Friday. Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament on Monday, 2-9pm; Wednesday, 6-9pm.
We offer our sympathy to the families and friends of Michael Gill, Buncrana who died recently. May he rest
in peace.

Prayer for Vocations: In today's gospel Jesus teaches a powerful lesson on forgiveness. We pray for the men
called to priesthood that, as they celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation with t heir people, they will help
them to know and experience the Lord who ".is compassion and love, slow to anger, and rich in m ercy."
(Responsorial Psalm). We pray to the Lord.
Derry Diocese is renewing and developing its Diocesan Adoration Lay Committee in order to increase the
practice of Eucharistic Adoration in parishes throughout the diocese. You are welcome t o attend an
Information Meeting on Wednesday 30 September at 8.00pm, in The Drummond Hotel, Ballykelly.
Registration and light refreshments from 7.30pm.

Moville Tidy Town Committee is holding the annual beach clean-up on Saturday 19 September at 10am.
Meet at the Shore Car Park.
Set Dancing in Malin Head Community Centre every Thursday at 8pm. (€5). Beginners at 7.30pm.

The Columban Young Adults (aged 18 – 30) will have a Holy Hour and meditation on Thursday 17
September at 7pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Steelstown, delivered by Fr Declan McGe ehan followed
by Benediction and refreshments. They are looking for new members so please attend and bring a frie nd.
Carrowmena Community Centre (9367061) All-age social club, The Tuesday Club, resumes on Tuesday
15 September at 2pm with a range of activities or simply a chat and make new friends. All welcome. Cost is
€5, including afternoon tea. A wide variety of courses is planned for the autumn. Contact the Centre for more

As the diocese and parishes prepare to celebrate the joyous occasion of the Installation of Bishop
Michael Router as Bishop of Derry on Sunday 20 September, a Triduum of Masses will be celebrated
in parishes throughout the diocese. In our parish, these Masses will be celebrated in S t Pius X Church
on Friday 18 September at 10am, Saturday 19 September at 6.30pm and Sunday 20 September at 10am.
All are welcome to attend as we come together as God’s people to pray for Bishop Route r and the
people of the diocese, that we may walk together in faith and hope, guided by the Holy Spirit.
Information Evening for Parents
All parents of children who are presenting for the s acraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation in
2027 are asked to attend an information evening in S coil Eoghain on 23rd of September beginning at
7.30pm sharp. The evening is being facilitated by Thornh ill Ministries, and it is essential that each child
is represented because Registration Forms will be giv en out at that meeting.
