Gospel Reflection
A new way of working …
Have you ever been jealous of a sibling, a colleague
at work, a team-mate? Have you ever felt that they
were receiving better treatment than you, even
though you put in more effort, more time, or did a
better job than they did? If you are like me and
answer honestly – I am sure we can all, say YES to
these questions; and so, this parable is for each of
us!
Our Gospel today offers a radical way of looking at
life and work. Today Jesus upsets the expectations
and the commonly held views of the status seeking
and result-driven society. He makes it clear that the
economy of the Kingdom of God is not based on
individual merit, competition, success and
achievement; rather it is predicated on the common
good, justice, inclusion and equity for all people.
That is why he tells this parable where the vineyard
owner gives as much to the last hired worker that
day as he does to those hired first. It was hard to
accept for the workers that day, just as it is hard for
us to accept sometimes when we feel we are treated
unfairly in comparison to others. Today offers us an
invitation to reflect and to come to accept that the
common good of all people is way of the Gospel. Family of Parishes Clergy

Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2026
On last Friday Fr Charlie and our Family of Parishes
travelled as a group with the Diocese of Cork and Ross
on the annual diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes. We pray
for our pilgrims and for the intentions they have brought
in their hearts to the Grotto in Lourdes.
Our Lady of Lourdes and St Bernadette – pray for us.
Grotto Mass in Lourdes
On Tuesday morning September 22nd at 7.30am (Irish
Time) Bishop Fintan Gavin will celebrate Mass at the
Grotto in Lourdes. Tune into the Lourdes Website or

9-week Catholic Formation and Theology Programme
for Young Adults aged 18 to 35 Years.

The Ministry of Altar Server.
We are inviting all parents to talk to their children about
being an Altar Server in our churches. Full training will be
given for both boys and girls from 3rd Class upwards. It is
beautiful to see our young people involved in our Masses
and Liturgies. If anyone is interested, please contact Fr
Charlie directly.
The Ministry of Welcome in our churches.
The Ministry of Welcome is a very important role in our
churches where we offer welcome and friendship to our
congregations and to those attending Mass. If you would
like to assist, please contact Fr Charlie or any member of
the Parish Pastoral Council.
November Remembrance Masses 2026.
Our Annual Remembrance Mass will take place this
year on the weekend of the 7th and 8th of November.
All those who have died since November 2025 will
be remembered in a special way on that weekend in
our three churches in our Family of Parishes. All
families will be contacted prior to that weekend.
Sacraments of
First Holy Communion & Confirmation 2027
Dates will be available in October. A meeting will be held
for all families involved in both sacraments in October
and families will be contacted through the schools. The
Enrolment Ceremony for both Sacraments will take place
on the First Sunday of Advent. We look forward to
meeting all families at our Sunday Masses as we prepare
together for your child’s special day.
