Coffee Day in Durrus: Thursday, September 24th, is Coffee
Day for Marymount Hospice , which provides specialist
palliative and long-term care in Cork. Mary O’Donovan has
hosted the fundraiser at her home for many years. Mary will
host the event again this year but, instead of holding it at her
home, it will take place at the Philip’s Green Centre. It will
run from 10am to 4pm in the afternoon, with a grand raffle for
some wonderful prizes. All are warmly invited to attend and
support this worthy cause. Should some people be unable to
attend, they can support this great cause by either purchasing
raffle tickets or handing in donations to Mary . Thinking about being a Priest in the Diocese of Cork & Ross? If you are between the ages of
18 and 40 and feel God may be calling you to be a diocesan priest then our monthly
Discernment Group Meeting may be a good way for you to discern this call. It is a gentle
first step in the process which takes the form of a monthly meeting and the availability of a
spiritual director to help guide you. The first meeting takes place on Saturday, September
26. Please register your interest by emailing Fr. Marius at vocations@corkandross.org
Fifteen students begin priesthood training for Irish dioceses
Fifteen new students have begun their training for the priesthood for the academic year
2026 – 2027. In total, there are now 74 seminarians in formation training to minister for
Irish dioceses, and these are:
- 15 entering their Propaedeutic Year in various seminaries (Introductory Year)
- 51 are studying in the national seminary of Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth, and at the
Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Dundalk; and 8 are based in seminaries on the continent.
A Special Collection for Priesthood Education will be taken up this weekend, 19th/20th
September, throughout the Diocese.
Please remember them in your prayers.

A Special Collection for Priesthood Education
will be taken up this weekend, 19th/20th
September, throughout the Diocese A Pilgrimage to Knock will take place on Sunday the 27th of September, 2026 with

The Annual Memory Walk in aid of the Alzheimer's Society
will take place from the Railway Pier (beyond SuperValu) on
Sunday Sept 20th @ 11am. Two different length walks are
available led by Munster Rugby star Josh Wycherely to
honour & remember loved ones who have lived with Dementia

Have you been bereaved by suicide? HUGG – Support after Suicide
HUGG support groups are a safe space to talk freely listen, share, ask wquestions and c one t tihe
other who have faced similar losses. It is a place where you will be met with comp assion & care.
Support groups are free and led by trained volunteers with a lived experience of suicide loss. You
are welcome to join a HUGG Suicide Bereavement Support. Contact us to l earn more and find your
