Sunday Gospel

The story of the unforgiving servant is a lesson in what faithful forgiveness means. At the heart of forgiveness there is a grace. Grace is something that cannot be contained or controlled. Grace shows us that where there is real mercy and forgiveness, there is sharing and generosity. Put simply it means that if you fully receive the mercy of God, it will compel you to share it, to be kind and merciful to your neighbour. It is a difficult notion to understand it a world, or economy, where we are encouraged to be selfish and greedy and make sure that, ‘nobody will make a fool out of me’. Time to get real about faith: if you seek and accept God’s forgiveness its fruit is the forgiveness you will share with others. (Fr S Crumptor)
