Bulletin Reflection 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time – 12th & 13th Sept. 2026
All politics is local, it is said. The Church is local in the community of Holy
Cross parish. The message of Jesus come down to us per sonally answering
His Word today before we ask how other people or places are doi ng.
The Word of God is struggling to be heard amid the noi se of war and
destruction in so many places. There is more of ‘an ey e for an eye and a tooth
for a tooth’ as in the Old Testament. Instead listen to Jesus today speaking
to us and to all people:
“If a person nurses anger against another, can they then demand
compassion from the Lord?” [1st Reading at Mass today] The answer
must be NO.
“The life and death of each of us has its influence on others.”
[2nd Reading at Mass today] We are Influencers whether we know it
or not. It is God who wants us to influence for good in a World of e vil.
“Lord, how often must I forgive another if they wrong me?”
[Gospel at Mass today] Peter resorted to mathematics in hi s question
to Jesus with his ‘how often’. He needed to be reminded of the
astonishing promise of Jesus , “Whatever you loose on earth shall
be considered loosed in Heaven,” The Sacrament of Reconciliation
[Confession] puts this within reach of each of us.
Our Eternal Destiny is decided on how I : 1) Forgive others. 2) Work for
deep reconciliation with others and 3) Render humble a nd living service to
others.
We have a lot to do, let us get started and take once mor e to heart the Word
of God.
This is the only hope for our World and it is our own personal Key to Heaven.
