Second Collection this weekend
The annual Priesthood Education Fund
collection is the second collection this Sunday
20th September. This fund plays a vital role in
supporting the formation and ongoing
education of those in priestly and diaconal
ministry.
Priest’s Income - Autumn Dues
Thank you to those who have already handed in
the Autumn Dues envelope. The Autumn Dues
can be returned in the yellow striped envelope
from the parish box set or in any envelope
marked ‘Autumn Dues’ at any Mass during the
coming weeks or it can be dropped into the
parish letterbox on the pier by the brown gates
to the right of the parish house at any time.
The Autumn Dues collection from the four
parishes is shared between the priests appointed
to our Family of Parishes.
Gougane Sunday 2026
You are invited to join people from across the
Diocese at Gougane Barra next Sunday 27th
Sept., gathering to honour St Finbarr one of the
Patrons of our Diocese. For more than 1,400
years Gougane Barra has been a place of prayer
and pilgrimage associated with St Finbarr.
Confessions will be available from 1.30 pm
followed by Rosary at 2.30 pm with Mass
celebrated by Bishop Fintan at 3.00 pm.
All are welcome to join this special annual
pilgrimage and to pray together for our
Diocese, our families, our parishes and faith
communities, and for the pastoral year ahead.
Formation in Faith is a 9-week programme for
young adults aged 18 to 35, beginning on
Wednesday, 30 September 2026, from 5:45 pm
until 8.00 pm in Mardyke House, Cork.
Participants can choose between two pathways:
1. Sycamore, a video-based faith formation
series with group discussion, or
2. Foundations in Theology , a lecture-based
introduction to Catholic theology with local
guest speakers.
Each evening begins with refreshments, and
provides participants with an opportunity to
engage in meaningful discussion.
Cork Scripture Group would like to invite
anyone who is interested in Scripture to join us
in the Scala Centre, Blackrock for the
following course.
4 Monday nights (28th Sept, 5th, 12th and 19th
Oct. 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm) on ‘I, Paul , The Life
and Letters of St Paul’ presented by Sean
O’Sullivan, Marian Mortell, Phil Mortell.
A separate workshop will take place on Sat.
10th Oct. (10.00 am to 1.00 pm) in Sacred Heart
Parish Hall, Western Road on ‘Two contrasting
prison letters: Philemon and Philippians’
facilitated by Sr. Mary T. Brien PBVM.
Cost: €50 .00 for the entire course including
workshop €10.00 for those who wish to attend

Marian Pilgrimages to Medjugorje
Marian Pilgrimages are now able to offer two
new departures to Medjugorje for Dec. 2026.
From 6th to 11th December for the Feast of the
Immaculate Conception or travel from 27th
December until 3rd January to welcome the
New Year in Medjugorje .

A vibrant friendly group providing an
important local resource for babies, toddlers
and their caregivers to meet and socialise with
their peers in a safe welcoming environment on
Thursdays from 10.00 am until 12.00 noon in
Carraig na bhFear Community Centre.

Friends of the O'Brien Family invite you to
support Baby Jade and the O'Brien Family at
their Tractor, Vintage Car and Bike Run on
Sunday, 4th October .
Vehicles will gather at Carraig na bhFear GAA
Grounds at 10.00 am for a great community
day in support of a worthy cause.
Come along, show your support, and help make
a difference for Baby Jade and her family.
