Two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela on 24 June, collapsing over 200 buildings and leaving over 80,000 homeless. Around 14,000 have lost their lives, up to 17,000 have been injured and 50,000 remain missing as emergency teams continue search and rescue operations. Many people sleep outdoors without water, electricity or knowing when they will be able to return home. But there are not an allocation of funds to reach those who need it most as quickly as possible. Your donation will help provide: - Temporary shelter for families who have lost everything. - Safe drinking water and essential relief items. - Care and protection for the most vulnerable people. - Psychological support for those affected by the earthquake. Families have lost loved ones, homes have been damaged or destroyed and many people are unsure where they will find shelter or support in the days ahead. The Meaning and Symbolism of the Brown Scapular The Scapular is a symbol of Mary’s protection. It is a reduced form of the Carmelite habit. Baptisms take place in St. Patrick's on the 1st & 3rd weekends and in St. Agatha’s Church on the 2nd & 4th weekends of each month. Baptisms are held on Saturdays at 4:00 pm or Sundays at 1:00 pm. Baptismal Preparation course takes place in the Parish Centre on the last Tuesday of each month for all families requiring their child to be baptised. The events comprise recitation of the rosary, a reminder of the mission of laity through Gospel and the Catechism, as well as information on the work of Human Life International Ireland, sponsoring seminars to priesthood in Tanzania (13 ordinations taking place this Summer), helping women in crisis pregnancy situations (630 babies lives saved so far), Holy Face devotion, and promoting the authentic teachings of the Catholic faith, working for an Ireland where God is First, Life is Sacred and the Family is Cherished. Feedback for the nights has been excellent and some clergy have attended the events including Bishop Cullinan in Waterford and Lismore. Vocations Monstrance (Blessed by Pope Leo) in the Diocese of Raphoe from 21st to 4th July The “Vocations Monstrance” is part of the Church’s ongoing commitment to promote and foster vocations to the priesthood and to religious life. This monstrance will be in various churches in the Diocese to encourage prayer for vocations and to deepen young people’s awareness of God’s call in their lives. Through prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, we ask the Lord to raise up generous and joyful servants for His Church. Vocations are born in prayer, sustained by prayer, and strengthened through prayer. James Sweeney Collection for Peter's Pen on June 28 – the Sunday before the liturgical feast of Saints Peter and Paul – the traditional Peter's Pence collection takes place. This is a concrete way to support the Holy Father in his mission of service to the universal Church. Donating to Peter's Pence is a concrete gesture of communion with his Holy Father and of solidarity with his mission to bring the Gospel throughout the world. Youth pilgrimage to Medjugorje This pilgrimage for teenagers (15 – 18 year olds) will take place on 5th – 12th August 2026. Mary's Meals Are delighted, in fact thrilled, to announce that Fr Eamon Kelly is getting rid of the beard in a sponsored beard and head shave. It will take place at the Diamond, Donegal Town on Saturday 11 July from Noon to 4pm. Mary's Meals are presently feeding 3,060,011 Children every day in school and €22 provides food for a child for a full school year. Any support is greatly appreciated.
