We remember how the Lord Jesus Christ Himself sanctified and experienced the beginning of life in the womb of Mary, hidden in the womb of Mary. Mary knew that she was carrying the Son of God - God and man - as soon as He was conceived. John the Baptist leapt in his mother Elizabeth's womb when Mary greeted her. Our Lady treasured Our Lord in her heart and womb till His birth. John O’Donnell | Tel: 074 9731013 Masses and Services: Live streaming www.mcn.live (link on website) Venezuela Earthquake Appeal There will be a Special Collection next weekend (after Communion) for the thousands of families who urgently need shelter, water, food and medical assistance. Two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela on 24 June, collapsing over 200 buildings and leaving over 80,000 homeless. Around 14,000 have lost their lives, up to 17,000 have been injured and 50,000 remain missing as emergency teams continue search and rescue operations. Many people sleep outdoors without water, electricity or knowing when they will be able to return home. But there are not an allocation of funds to reach those who need it most as quickly as possible. Your donation will help provide: - Temporary shelter for families who have lost everything. - Safe drinking water and essential relief items. - Care and protection for the most vulnerable people. - Psychological support for those affected by the earthquake. Families have lost loved ones, homes have been damaged or destroyed and many people are unsure where they will find shelter or support in the days ahead. Your donation will help provide emergency assistance to those affected and support communities as they begin to recover. Every donation will help bring hope, relief and practical support to people whose lives have been turned upside down. Entrance Hymn: Colours of Day dawn into the mind, The sun has come up, the night is behind. Go down to the city, into the street, And let’s give the message to the people we meet. Chorus: So light up the fire and let the flame burn, Open up the ears, let Jesus return. Take seeds of the Spirit, let the fruit grow, Tell the people of Jesus, let his love show. Open your ears, look into the sky, The darkness has come, the sun came to die. The evening draws on, the sun disappears, But Jesus is living, and now in our tears. (Chorus) Parish Choir Practice Monday 7.15pm For Presence by John O’Donohue Awaken to the mystery of being here and enter the vital immensity of your own presence. Have joy and peace in the temple of your senses. Receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon. Respond to the call of your gift and the courage to follow its path. Let the flame of anger free you of all falsity. May warmth of heart keep your presence alive. May anxiety never linger about you. May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of soul. Take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek no attention. Be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul. May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder. The Meaning and Symbolism of the Brown Scapular The Scapular is a symbol of Mary’s protection. It is a reduced form of the Carmelite habit. It involves ‘putting on Christ’ in our lives and entrusting ourselves to Mary’s protection. It includes the idea of consecration to Mary. Consecration is properly an act done by God, so that when we say we consecrate ourselves to God and to Mary, we are principally stating that we freely want God’s will to be done in our lives. We want the Lord Jesus to rule all we say and do. The wearing of the Scapular is a sign that we want the values lived out by Mary to be evident in our actions and dispositions. Vocations Monstrance (Blessed by Pope Leo) in the Diocese of Raphoe from 21st to 4th July The “Vocations Monstrance” is part of the Church’s ongoing commitment to promote and foster vocations to the priesthood and to religious life. This monstrance will be in various churches in the Diocese to encourage prayer for vocations and to deepen young people’s awareness of God’s call in their lives. Through prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, we ask the Lord to raise up generous and joyful servants for His Church. Vocations are born in prayer, sustained by prayer, and strengthened through prayer. Any parish wishing to have the “Vocations Monstrance” during these 2 weeks, please contact Fr Rory Brady at vocations@raphoediocese.ie . This weekend I hand over the reins of the Inchicore Parish to the very capable Fr. Vincent Finnegan after six years of fulfilling service here. I hope and pray that I can serve the needs of “the Upper Parish” as happily as I did in this time. It is no stranger to most of you, and I’m sure we will find the Lord wants us to work together in the next number of years.
